2nd Flax-Brächete Val Müstair

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the 2nd flax brächete will take place at the Tessanda hand weaving mill. After a successful Brächete was held for the first time in many decades in 2023 with around 600 visitors, the Biosfera VM Nature Park is now looking forward to continuing this great tradition in October 2024.

The Brächete is both a custom and an autumn festival that focuses on the joint processing of the flax harvest using traditional tools. Once again this year in October, Val Müstair will be rippling, breaking, hackling and celebrating a joyful festival.

At the "Brächete", breakers use traditional tools to demonstrate the manual work that used to characterize local textile production. The tools come from the St. Johann monastery collection and have been specially restored for the occasion. Spinners spin the fibers into yarn on spinning wheels and the spun yarn is woven into fine linen fabrics in the Tessanda hand weaving mill. A small market with exquisite linen and flax products, delicious delicacies made from linseed and a small festival restaurant round off the offer.
